Lyrical fragrances

         

         "The pieces presented on this page and the next are the most recent, having been composed between 2016 and 2022. It is undoubtedly with this production that the feeling of having reconnected with myself became strongest. The orchestration is characterized by the prominence of the strings, as is often the case in my orchestral works, insofar as the warm sound of the quartet is conducive to the breath of my texts. This inclination is perceptible very early in my career, since as early as the 1980s I was almost systematically dividing the string sections into three for my operas. I thus obtained a kind of "sonic wall" built around an architecture traced with opulent and moving flesh, as if the writing for strings participated in an organic conception of music for me."
